Single-axis trackers

Module rows that follow the sun from east to west and deliver more energy per module in regions with high direct irradiation.

What it is

A motor turns each row of modules over the day so that the sun always hits the modules at a favourable angle. In sunny regions with clear skies this typically raises the annual yield by 10 to 25 percent compared with a fixed structure.

Trackers add moving parts, controls and maintenance. Whether they pay off depends on the irradiation, the electricity price and the local capacity for maintenance. We calculate both variants and show you the difference.

Suitable for

  • Large, flat sites
  • High direct irradiation, few clouds
  • Projects where yield per module matters more than yield per hectare

Advantages

  • Higher yield and a flatter generation curve
  • More power in the morning and evening hours
  • Automatic stow position in storms

What we check in planning

  • Row spacing to avoid mutual shading
  • Wind stow strategy and control
  • Training of local maintenance staff
